Hot air balloon made of corrugated cardboard for Semper Idem Underberg

Underberg, a traditional brand from Rheinberg in North Rhine-Westphalia (Germany), can look back on an impressive history dating back to 1846. Back then, company founder Hubert Underberg began to develop a unique herbal recipe, which is still produced today under the strictest secrecy using the so-called ‘Semper idem’ process. This process guarantees the proven quality and purity of the herbal bitters, which consist of 43 carefully selected herbs from all over the world. The flavour experience is also the focus of their latest campaign ‘Explore the magic world of herbs’, for which SCHELLING AG was commissioned to develop the POS presentation.

The central element of the campaign is a 2.20 metre high hot air balloon display, which is being used in various supermarkets and specialist drinks shops in Germany, Austria and Denmark. The hot air balloon, which stands for diversity of ideas, movement and surprise, perfectly symbolises Underberg's brand essence: naturalness, purity and the surprising.
The display is made of filigree corrugated cardboard, which gives the balloon its characteristic shape, and a reinforced substructure that can easily support the weight of up to 120 Underberg products. In addition to its impressive design, the display also impresses with its sustainability and reusability, which played a central role in the choice of materials and construction. The individual parts were produced using digital printing.

The displays were fully assembled at SCHELLING AG and customised with the decorative items, including the jute sacks and ropes. The displays were then dispatched to the locations, where only the basket had to be filled with the products. The POS campaign with the hot air balloon display has already met with a positive response from retailers and is generating strong momentum at the point of sale.
